HAWAII SCORES FIRST VEGAN HOTEL, Volcano Eco Retreat, on the Big Island.  It is part of the Heart Core chain, which describes itself as “a collection of carefully selected planet and vegan-friendly boutique hotels and retreats that strive to set an example in an industry ripe for disruption.” More info here.

CLIMATE IS THE FOCUS OF VEGANUARY 2022: Veganuary’s Head of Communications, Toni Vernelli, says: “Although changing our diets is crucial to cutting greenhouse gas emissions, it can seem daunting. January 2013: Standard battery cages and breeder sow gestation crates after four weeks of pregnancy are banned throughout the European Union, due largely to the efforts of Compassion in World Farming.

January 2014: 3,300 people from all around the world sign up to go vegan, launching Veganuary, an international campaign.
