Leilani Farm Sanctuary Re-Opens for Tours: Do you have a family member or friend you want to veganize? Tours of farm animal refuges have proven to be a successful way to get people to ditch meat. Elections Matter: For veganism on Maui to thrive, local, independent farmers must be empowered to consistently produce and distribute a wide variety of sustainable and affordable whole plant foods.  It’s election time, which means that big outside corporations are using dark money – funds provided by secret donors – to bend Maui’s politics and commerce to their advantage.

One of the newest conduits of dark money is Hui O Maui Citizens for Change, a super political action committee (PAC) based in Reno, Nevada. Hui O Maui has funded efforts to crush efforts at increasing local control by defeating Maui charter amendments and progressive candidates. Before you vote, consider:

Hawaii Vegan Cookbook: Lillian Cumic has authored Hawaii a Vegan Paradise: Over 120 Plant-Based Recipes from the Islands.A Vegan Paradise is the perfect introduction to vegan cooking by one of Honolulu's leading vegan chefs covering every aspect of the plant-based diet.”

Yelp Honor: Moku Roots, a mostly vegan restaurant in Lahaina, has been named top Hawaiian vegetarian restaurant by Yelp. Details here.

November 1 is World Vegan Day, and November is World Vegan Month. Here are 30 days of tips.
