Vegan News for October 2019
This month Maui Chilis on Wheels expands to a third day of meal share in Kihei, for a total of 72 vegan meals a week for people in need. “Funds are running low. We need containers and to pay our very small monthly bills from our partners. If you’d like to purchase supplies, pay a bill directly, or volunteer, contact Nicole at maui@chilisonwheels.org or call 643-4811.”
Woody Harrelson and Billie Eilish have made a short video with Greenpeace, Our House is on Fire. They list ways in which people can help the environment, including giving up meat and dairy.

Pound cakes and tea-cakes are also extremely good made with oil (instead of butter and eggs), and cheese-cakes are well imitated by means of mashed potatoes mixed with oil and sugar put into a crust … without animal substance of any kind, or of eggs, milk and butter.”
October 2, 1983 World Day for Farmed Animals is declared by the Farm Animal Rights Movement. It is dedicated to exposing the needless suffering and death of sentient animals for food.
October 1995: Turtle Island and The Higher Taste introduce the first “Tofurkey.”
October 2003: Melbourne, Australia initiates a celebration of World Vegan Day on the last Sunday in October.
